Stationary Targets

Stationary Armour Target

Stationary Infantry Target (SIT)

Overview

Stationary Armor Targets allow units armed with large caliber weapons to conduct exercises against a "realistic" pop-up enemy. They can be used for training deployed units as well as on traditional fixed firing ranges. The Stationary Armor Target has a powerful lift mechanism and can be configured on demand to reflect any enemy or action. A wide variety of accessories are available for the lifter, including thermal signatures, a non-contact hit scoring system, pyrotechnical devices and an easy-to-use control system.

Meeting future challenges demands solutions adaptable to precise customer needs. The SIT is a generic target mechanism module that can be configured to any customer requirement. Built on 30 years' experience of fielding targetry products for demanding users and environments, SIT provides realism, long product life and a low life cycle costs.

Features

The deployable Armor Targets are battery operated and radio-controlled. The Armor Target System can typically perform 300 lifting cycles and run for more than 10 km before it becomes necessary to recharge the batteries. Operating times can be extended by installing solar panels or an onboard charger. These Armor Targets are lightweight and stackable, which makes them easy to transport, store and deploy. Saab also offers realistic decoys of any type of vehicle, aircraft, Main Battle tanks and Air Defence systems. All decoys can be provided with visual, near-infrared, thermal and radar signatures corresponding with those of the real object.

The Stationary Infantry Target Mechanism is a multi-purpose target mechanism with the main purpose of exposing and concealing a human size target for a firing individual or unit. The target holder has an integrated hit sensor. When the target board is hit by a round, the hit sensor will register the impact and the SIT will react as preset in the control system.
